REFLECTION

When enrolling at the Art Institute of Dallas, I had no design software experience, just simply a love for drawing and coming up with creative ideas. Although I would have done some things differently when looking back, I have learned so much since then and am grateful for the experience I had learning from their incredible team of educators. I love reflecting on where I started on this crazy journey and hope you enjoy it as well.

ART FOR FUN

ART IS EVERYWHERE.

Ask any professional designer why they got into their field of Graphic Design, Advertising, Culinary Design, Fashion Design, etc. and I'd imagine that most of them will tell you that they've loved art since they were a child. Whether it be they admired the pastries their mother made, or loved to draw, its something that's been part of them for most of their lives. Unfortunately, when you "grow up", you tend to spend most of your time working that you don't get the time to really play, explore, and enjoy like you did as a child.

I strive to be a lifelong student of art and always try to learn new things. I believe art is everywhere; in nature, beautiful food, thick chunky oil paints, the leaves on a tree, graphic design, hand lettering, interior design, and so many more things. Below is a collection of art I've made for the sake of enjoyment. I hope by looking at my work you are inspired to create more yourselves!

NATURE PHOTOGRAPHY

Most of these photos were taken on a 5-week National Parks road trip I took this past spring. The photos speak for themselves. There is SO much beauty in this world and I'm thankful I had the privilege to capture a sliver of it .

LEARNING WATERCOLOR

Medium: Watercolor on watercolor paper

These watercolor paintings are from when I was first learning to use watercolor and was learning to use different techniques for obtaining translucency and opaqueness together.

LEARNING OIL

Medium: Oil Paint

Oil painting was and still is intimidating to me but it is the most beautiful form of paint. These paintings were done at the Craft Guild of Dallas in 3 hour sessions.

These are some of the very first paintings I did. I would find an artist's work that I really admired and try to emulate their techniques.

ROCK ON

These were a lot of fun to do. I recently visited my family and learned that painting on rocks was a big thing in my hometown. So I decided I would have a little family fun and do a few too.
